iPhone 18 Pro vs iPhone 17 Pro — What's Expected to Change

Since the iPhone 18 Pro is expected to keep a similar design to the iPhone 17 Pro, most of the meaningful upgrades this year are reported to be under the hood rather than cosmetic:

• Chip: According to current reports, an A20 Pro chip built on TSMC's 2nm process, up from the A19 Pro's 3nm
• Modem: Leaks suggest Apple's next-generation C2 modem, reportedly adding mmWave 5G support
• Camera: Rumors point to a variable-aperture main lens on at least one Pro model this generation
• Display: Reported to include a smaller Dynamic Island, with some leaks suggesting under-display Face ID components
• Design: Leaked dummies suggest a camera plateau slightly thicker than the iPhone 17 Pro's
• Thermal: Reports mention an upgraded vapor chamber cooling system for sustained performance during heavier tasks

Nothing here is confirmed by Apple. All of the above reflects current leaks and industry reporting only.

iPhone 18 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra

Both flagships are expected to push display brightness and camera zoom further this generation. We'll publish a full side-by-side comparison table once Apple confirms official iPhone 18 Pro specs.

iPhone 18 Pro vs the Rumored Foldable iPhone

The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to retain Apple's traditional flagship form factor, while the rumored foldable iPhone is expected to target buyers seeking a larger folding display and a new form factor. Final specifications and pricing will be confirmed by Apple. See our iPhone 18 Price in Pakistan hub page for the full lineup overview.

iPhone 18 Pro Colors

Apple has not confirmed the color lineup. Current reports suggest a Dark Cherry (deep red) finish may join the Pro line this year, alongside possible Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver options. Some leakers suggest Apple may skip a true black finish for the second year running. These color names remain unconfirmed and rumored until Apple's official announcement.

Official color names and photography will be added here immediately after the September 9 announcement.

iOS 20 & Apple Intelligence on iPhone 18 Pro

The iPhone 18 Pro is expected to ship with iOS 20 and Apple's next wave of on-device AI features, built around the A20 Pro's improved neural engine. Reports suggest faster local Siri processing and expanded Apple Intelligence writing and image tools may be included, though Apple has not yet confirmed which features will be exclusive to the iPhone 18 Pro versus available on older devices. We'll update this section as more concrete details emerge.

Should You Upgrade to the iPhone 18 Pro?

From an iPhone 16 Pro: if the leaked chip and camera upgrades hold true, this is likely to feel like a meaningful jump — two chip generations, a new modem, and camera hardware changes.

From an iPhone 17 Pro: current leaks suggest this may be a smaller, more incremental update, though the camera and chip changes could still matter if you shoot a lot of video or photography.
